Job Description

 

Job Title: Machine Operator

 

Department: Routing                

 

Reports to: Lead of Assembly

           

Overview:

This is an entry-level position; an introduction to the assembly and manufacturing of various aerospace components. The machine operator is responsible for routing food trays and arm caps to be used in the assembly of aircraft seats. A routing assembly worker works under the direct supervision of department leads, as well as the Operations Manager.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Ability to run and operate CNC machines and under the guidance of the lead and supervisor modify programs according to the drawing.
  • Ability to ensure that the machines are running at full speed safely.
  • Ability to do different types of set ups when required and calibrate the tools of each program.
  • May need to re-route products to improve final product.
  • Ability to use drawing given to conform the sample to the drawing ensuring that the dimensions of the drawing and the sample match.
  • Ability to use routers, drills, band saw and scissors.
  • Ability to read instructions such as work orders/ travelers and drawings.
  • Inspect plastic products for scratches, bubbles, contamination or metal showing.
  • Responsible for reading and understanding work orders and asking department lead for help when necessary.
  • Able to take direction from supervisors regarding the focus of the day.
  • Report any error in work to department leads.
  • Adheres to all Flight Line Products, LLC safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment and proper procedures of materials handling such as hazardous materials.
  • Recording of VOC's volatile organic compounds if used during repair process in VOC log book.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook on safe work stations.
  • Contributes to the team environment by accomplishing designated tasks and is able to work closely with others in an assembly line environment.
  • Clean work area at the end of each shift.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Experience:

 

Entry level acceptable preferred at least one year of manufacturing experience.

 

Language Skills:

 

Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

 

Mathematical Skills:

 

Minimum Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations, using units of American money, weight, measurement of volume and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability:

 

Minimum Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

 

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to work with others in a positive and productive manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Must be able to work in an industrial environment to including walking in the repair shop floor, standing, sitting, use of hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands or arms.
  • Able to lift 40 pounds regularly through the day.
  • Job requires standing for 8 hours or more each day.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of visual attention throughout their shift looking for deficiencies.
  • Exposure to loud manufacturing noise and vibration from machine use.
  • Exposure to high temperatures environment.

 

Education Requirements:

 

High school diploma or GED required.
