Job Description


Job Title: Fabrication Technician


Department: Cushions              


Reports to: Lead of Cushions



Under the direction of the Cushions and Assembly Supervisor, the Fabrication Technician will fabricate interior Aircraft parts and assemblies, in accordance with all applicable instructions and standards. The Fabrication Technician performs fabrication assembly of a variety of cushions to be used in the assembly of aircraft seats, this position works under the direct supervision of department leads, as well as the Operations Manager.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture aircraft parts and assemblies in accordance with released data. 
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, engineering orders, test plans and work instructions.
  • Comply with lean manufacturing principals and work with leads and supervisors to implement best practices in the manufacturing process.
  • Work with engineers and management with problem solving production issues.
  • Set up and perform testing of interior components in accordance with released test plans.
  • Be prepared to cross train and be utilized in other aspects in the production process
  • Ability to read instructions such as work orders and drawings for cushion assembly.
  • Experienced with heavy blade machinery.
  • Responsible for reading and understanding work orders and plans for repair pieces.
  • Able to take direction from supervisors regarding the focus of the day.
  • Report any error in work to department leads.
  • Must pay close attention to detail especially when putting together more complicated or small parts.
  • Fit, fasten and glue various pieces together multiple times a day paying special attention to details.
  • Adheres to all Flight Line Products, LLC safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment and proper procedures of materials handling such as hazardous materials.
  • Recording of VOC's volatile organic compounds if used during repair process in VOC log book.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook on safe work stations.
  • Contributes to the team environment by accomplishing designated tasks and is able to work closely with others in an assembly line environment.
  • Clean work area at the end of each shift.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum of 2-4 years' experience in fabrication in a manufacturing environment.


Language Skills:


Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.


Mathematical Skills:


Minimum Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations, using units of American money, weight, measurement of volume and distance.


Reasoning Ability:


Minimum Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.


Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Ability to work with others in a positive and productive manner.
  • Knowing how to needle glue and use a hot stamp.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.


Physical Demands:


  • Must be able to work in an industrial environment to including walking in the repair shop floor, standing, sitting, use of hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands or arms.
  • Able to lift 40 pounds regularly through the day.
  • Job requires standing for 8 hours or more each day.
  • Repetitive hand and arm movements required when assembling most pieces which includes but is not limited to: side to side movement holding a 5 pound glue gun needed to spray chemical adhesive.
  • No known allergies to adhesives.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of visual attention throughout their shift looking for deficiencies.
  • Exposure to loud manufacturing noise.
  • Exposure to high temperature environment


Education Requirements:


High school diploma or GED required.
